Hi Friend,
the COVID-19 outbreak has hit LA hard. And people are becoming more aware of the human cost of insufficient housing: overcrowded homes that are a nightmare for our fight against the pandemic.
Some of the hardest-hit have been our homeless neighbors. This week, we’re devoting our advocacy to defending them. Residents in some neighborhoods want to kick homeless people out of temporary housing because they don’t want to be near them. It’s shameful, and we’ve got something to say. Today we’re writing to the City of LA to reject demands to move homeless people into industral zones.

California YIMBY Social Equity Webinar
Our friends at California YIMBY are hosting Housing & Social Equity Series: A discussion with Richard Rothstein, Author of The Color of Law tomorrow, Wednesday at 5pm.
Segregation continues to haunt the American city. The Color of Law explores how policy at local, state, and federal levels contributed to its rise. Join the webinar for a chance to meet and chat with the author.
We’re still calling for a #HealthyLA
The COVID-19 crisis continues to impact the most vulnerable people. Join us and our Healthy LA coalition partners in calling on the Board of Supervisors to enact further measures to protect workers. Call/write them before their meeting tomorrow. We’re specifically calling their attention to Agenda Item #12, which includes action against the City of Norwalk for obstructing Project Roomkey, an effort to procure 15,000 hotel and motel beds to shelter unhoused people.
