Friend, will you help support housing in your community by becoming a housing element watchdog?
The RHNA cycle is in full swing, and cities across Southern California are updating their housing elements in order to support strong, equitable housing growth. Cities in LA County must accommodate 800,000 more homes by 2029, which has the potential to fix the housing crisis and transform our region for the better.
Of course, NIMBY cities are doing everything they can to avoid creating high-quality housing elements that actually create more housing. That’s why Abundant Housing LA and YIMBY Law are teaming up to audit cities’ housing elements and write comment letters that push back on bad plans. Together, AHLA and YIMBY Law, whose mission is to make housing in California more accessible and affordable through enforcement of state housing law, are calling out cities that are placating housing opponents and failing to uphold state housing law.
If you want to help us hold cities accountable, then you should become a housing element watchdog! Here are some of the cities where we need your help:
-
Pomona – 10,532 home RHNA goal
-
Montebello – 5,171 home RHNA goal
-
Rosemead – 4,603 home RHNA goal
-
Duarte – 873 home RHNA goal
-
El Segundo – 491 home RHNA goal

- Finally, no matter where in LA County you live, we encourage you to get involved in Abundant Housing LA, and to take action in your own city.
