This past summer, Abundant Housing LA was fortunate enough to work with talented policy and research interns from the UCLA Luskin graduate program in public policy. Their summer project was to analyze Glendale, California’s most recent housing element update (an eight-year plan that guides housing development), and investigate recent trends in housing production in Glendale. The project also recommended a rezoning strategy for Glendale’s upcoming 2021 housing element update. This would help Glendale achieve a housing growth target of 13,400 homes, a target that was assigned to Glendale as part of the state’s Regional Housing Needs Assessment process.
Our interns had the opportunity to interact with Glendale’s Department of Planning throughout the summer, and the final project was presented to Glendale’s Assistant Director of Community Development. You can check out the final project for yourself here.
