Take action: help divest from harmful & unproductive freeway expansions!
Freeway widening does not improve traffic congestion. Decades of research found that it rarely has any benefit at all.
In fact, it is well documented that freeway expansions actively harm communities by demolishing badly-needed homes, polluting the air, and exacerbating noise pollution. What’s more, BIPOC communities are routinely targeted for freeway expansion – there are several projects like this in the pipeline in LA County, mostly in communities of color.
AB 1778 prevents the use of state funding for freeway widening activities. We agree – public dollars should not be used to subsidize home demolitions! Join AHLA in urging your state legislators to support AB 1778 today.
